Biography

Elisa Bertolotti is amultimedia researcher and practitioner; her theoretical and practice-based research investigates the encounter between different disciplines, where communication design meets stories, drawings and moving images. She explores the way in which interdisciplinary experiences from apparently remote fields can enrich the culture and practice of designers. Her PhD research and dissertation, focused on practices, methods and techniques of contemporary animation, investigating the relationship between material conditions, invention and design.

She co-leads an ongoing collaboration with the Imagis research group (Design Dept., Politecnico di Milano, Italy) and with DESIS network; she conducted a postdoctoral research on the relationship between storytelling and social innovation, and is currently an assistant professorat the Art & Design Department, University of Madeira, Portugal.
