Biography

Mariya Ivancheva is a sociologist and anthropologist, who works on social/ist movements and the role of university workers and students in processes of social change. She is a founding member of the PrecAnthro pressure group, and as such developed anti-precarity initiatives at the European level and was elected executive member (2019-2021) and later President (2021-2023) of the European Association of Social Anthropologists.

Mariya is also a member of the collectives LeftEast and the Bulgarian Left-feminist group LevFem, and is active with the E.A.S.T. and ELMO networks.
